Two activists of the Muslim Students Federation, the student wing of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), sustained injuries as two groups of the MSF hurled flower pots at each other in the fracas that preceded the party’s information secretary’s press conference.
Many people forced their way into the PML-N office disregarding the appeal of Ahsan Iqbal for keeping calm.
PML-N’s Secretary of information, Ahsan Iqbal, said at the press conference at the provincial office of the party that the N-League will support creation of new provinces because the Constitution of the country allows such a creation.
Iqbal said that the new provinces be created according to linguistic and administrative requirements, and no attempts be made to divide Punjab for increasing other provinces’ seats in the Senate.
He said formation of a national government would increase corruption in politics as well as worsen the economic crisis.
The information secretary of the PML-N said that despite the explanation given by Shahbaz Sharif, negative attitude was being adopted by the government which was tantamount to harassing the political party.
He said that the rulers’ inefficiency had created some confusion, and the PML-N had a message for change. Iqbal said that the drone attacks were being carried out with the permission of the government.
He said the government had been trying to divert people’s attention from the killers of Benazir Bhutto by opening the case of late Z.A. Bhutto. He said his party would arrest Benazir Bhutto’s assassins after coming to power.
